Less grimey and more shiny. While waiting for my new water pump, T-stat, valves, control arm and shifter bushings, I will be cleaning as much of the engine as possible.

Even the cylinder head cleaned up rather nice enough to hold without gloves!

Looking good - I try to get anything I have off the car at least to the “I can hold this without getting filthy” state.

brake cleaner is expensive, if youre just going to use it for cleaning engine parts. i prefer a large metal tub, and a few gallons of kerosine, some wire brushes, some steel wool. and some rinse off kerosine for when i am absolutely done....... after cleaning something i usually just let the kerosine sit for a while to settle, and then take the cleaner stuff off the top, and bottle it back up to reuse later......

but it came out looking nice......

It was old cans from 5-6 years ago, had no regrets using them for this. I’ve got more cans of parts cleaner and degreaser as well. I actually never thought I’d use that brake cleaner until now.

This is my engine cleaner of choice:

I get it by the case at work, it’s like brake cleaner, only more aggressive.
